Learn from Fly Fishers International Certified Casting Instructor Mark Signorino from Erie, PA. He is a helper/instructor for PA Fish & Boat Commission fly fishing seminars, teaches Fly Fishing 101 class at start parks in Western PA, and volunteers with Project Healing Waters & The Mayfly Project.

We learn to identify the handwriting of others…similarly, we can learn to read signatures left by wildlife! This program will teach participants the basics of animal tracking and identifying signs, scat, rubbings, and remains. Learning animal signatures allows you the opportunity to discover which animals passed through, what they did, and where they went. The program guest presenter is Heather Flick, Environmental Education Specialist for the PA Game Commission, NW Region.

Join Margaret Shontz Memorial Library and French Creek Valley Conservancy for an engaging program all about the Eastern Hellbender, North America’s largest salamander and a key indicator of clean, healthy waterways. Learn about the biology, behavior, and conservation of this elusive amphibian.
Join Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation Center to meet some of their animal ambassadors, including Tammy the Opossum and Myrtle the Turtle! Although you won't be able to touch or hold the wildlife, there will be several animal ambassadors present for you to see up close and in person! Plus, learn about their habits, and their importance in our ecosystem!

Join Dr. Jenn Houtz, Allegheny College Professor of Biology to learn more about the feathered friends in your backyard! We'll cover bird identification, helpful tips, and how to get started. Bring your curiosity and binoculars!
Join Dr. Jenn Houtz, Allegheny College Professor of Biology, as she provides a highly-interactive workshop decorating bird boxes and constructing eco-friendly bird feeders. Dr. Houtz, editor of the highly successful Backyard Birds of Allegheny College Coloring Book, studies the physiology and behavior of birds, including Eastern Bluebirds and Tree Swallows.
Participants will collaborate in decorating pre-constructed bird boxes that will be installed around the Meadville Public Library. They will also have the opportunity to construct an eco-friendly bird feeder out of provided common household materials that they may take with them at the end of the event.

This is a free family-friendly event great for people of all ages. Meet Tamarack Wildlife’s non-releasable “ambassador” hawks, owls, and falcons presented “on the glove” by handlers for the public to view up close and personal. Children’s crafts and activities, tours of the admissions facilities, educational displays, and refreshments are other highlights.
There will be a raffle, TWC merchandise for sale, and opportunities to learn about how to further support Tamarack in the future. The center’s licensed rehabilitators, educators, and volunteers will be onsite to answer questions and discuss exciting successes of the past year.
Participants at this event must utilize roadside parking. Limited handicapped parking will be available.
Because You Care animal rescue is hosting a dog and family-friendly fundraiser at Frontier Park in Erie. There will be food trucks, a beer garden, kid and dog friendly activities, Magic Steve balloon sculptures, Bryan Toy caricatures, craft vendors, and their annual Franklin Fund Basket Raffle.
Tickets are $20 and all funds support providing veterinary care and maintaining the BYC adoption center.
